Providence Photonics, LLC is announcing the latest release of the QL320 Quantitative Optical Gas Imaging (QOGI) product. This new version brings many highly requested improvements to the company’s quantitative method following the success of the original QL320 launched in February of 2017. “The QL320 Version 2 represents a significant advancement for quantitative optical gas imaging.” says Jon Morris, CTO of Providence Photonics. “Not only have we improved the performance of the method, but we have also incorporated feedback from our user community to improve the overall form and function of the product.”
The QL320 is used in conjunction with a FLIR GF320 or GFx320 handheld gas imaging camera. The QL320 is portable, easy to use, and provides results in the field within seconds. With the QL320, a leak can be quantified to establish the environmental benefit of a Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) program or to determine the dollar value of lost product. This allows users to quantify the leak rate when a leak is detected by the FLIR GF320 or GFx320 cameras.
Key new features in Version 2 include a continuous mode, which gives the user immediate feedback from the QL320 method to assess the quality of the background and plume extraction. The continuous mode also provides a real time result with 1-second, 5-second and 1-minute rolling averages. Providing the user with rolling averages for leak rate results in higher precision than the previous batch method. Additional features in Version 2 include an image mask to suppress noise or reflections, an interactive delta temperature tool and a streamlined file management system.
